What We Do
Balanced by Design™ was developed to aid individuals in dealing with the stress and strain of ordinary life, especially in the workplace.  We emphasize ease of movement and integrated functioning in the performance of ordinary tasks: sitting, standing, bending, lifting, reaching, and walking. We have observed that these are areas where many people can get into trouble, where rushing to complete a job, make it to an appointment, trying to do more than they are able, can lead to unnecessary stress and, in time, to muscular fatigue and discomfort. We teach simple techniques for remaining in balanced support while performing almost any task, and we have learned that this support can make the difference between “ability” and “disability” in the workplace.
Who We Are
Balanced by Design™ was developed after many years of study and practice by the two teachers, Matt Stevens and Steve Savage. Matt’s background includes extensive martial arts training and certification as a teacher of The Alexander Technique. Steve holds an MS in psychology, has studied many types of bodywork and meditation and is a Certified Middendorf Breath Practitioner.
